Tax Tip:
A mobile phone provided by a company to its employee is a tax free benefit but a standard allowance paid for business use of the employee’s phone is taxable. To be tax free the company must own the phone and hold the contract with the phone company. |

I write under my maiden name of Rebecca Cave through my own personal company Taxwriter Ltd
I spend much of my time updating established tax books and loose-leaf law or tax works as a contributor for all the main tax publishers. However, I have written one whole book from scratch: Practical Commercial Tax, for Sweet and Maxwell. I am also the sole or joint author for Capital Gains Tax, and Roll-over, Hold-over and Deferral reliefs both published by Tottel (now Bloomsbury Publishing). Since April 2000, when I became a freelance writer, I have written thousands of articles for various newsletters and journals, including regular articles for Taxation, and the CIOT journal: Tax Adviser.
In 2009 I was short-listed in the Lexis Nexis Taxation Awards for Tax Writer of the year. I also produce bespoke client newsletters for professional firms, as well as marketing materials and website content.
